| Idea for CollabSun 4th Nov, 2007I know we havent decided on the overall idea yet, but i just had to draw this down while it was in my head. Comments & discussion:Jeran Halfpap Sun 11th Nov, 2007 ...i dont particularly like getting stuck with having to draw a bunch of windows...:P but i might warm up to the idea :) Shanna MustonTue 6th Nov, 2007 Yeah that sounds great, Im in the middle of my last exams for school ever!! so i probably wouldn't get around to doing a much better one for a couple of days anyway. Im loving the support not only for the idea, but everyone saying exactly what they think. I know i'll be happy no matter how the collab turns out, half the fun so far has simply been being a part of the group! Gracie RaffertyTue 6th Nov, 2007 By the way guys, if you have additional ideas to imput for this or want to sketch or resketch go ahead... I have a full scale collab grid available for download (both .gif and .psd formats) to make this all a little easier. Shanna, since I like this a lot, I think I'll try to work on a sketch myself tomorrow after work if that's okay by you :D I think sketching is a GREAT way to show eachother ideas, might be easier than explaining - we can all visualize better with sketching I think hehe. Also note shanna, I put your sketch in my bulletin too for people to vote on :D Cheers! Gracie Shubnum KhanMon 5th Nov, 2007 wow shannon this is cool! but it makes me nervous because Im at the epicenter of that eiffel tower!! lol, well im from Africa so i think it would be apt (if we go through with this) to do some of the African bits. This is an excellent idea for drawing a grid so everyone can be sure what they do. I think we would have to work inside out though (the outer squares would have to work first) then the inner squares so each square can relate correctly to the one next to it. MoofzMon 5th Nov, 2007 I think this is an awesome idea. This way we get to include the world theme too. As long as the picture flows well. Water is probably the easiest way to flow from the different places.. And with a landscape we could also extend it should we get more interested collaborateers (new word right there o_o) which I think we will once we get a finished product out there. Gracie RaffertySun 4th Nov, 2007 Hey those are great ideas mark... as for south america; there is always the amazon :D We could have a bit of rainforest somewhere in there with some wild birds or something. I'm brainstorming on this idea as well; I'm sorta busy today but I'll be posting something mid-week with my sketches too :D We can all work on this idea and if it turns out people like it we can go forward with more exact sketches later :D Shanna MustonSun 4th Nov, 2007 wowie, sounds good. yeah i thought about the whole build thing and i was like nah thats a bit boring if u ended up with that square. Ill start doing a neater sketch with these ideas as well! Mark WatkinsonSun 4th Nov, 2007 Hi Shanna, nice idea I notice that you have a note at the top saying that there is nothing to represent Antartica. I know this is a rough sketch, and the voting is not over yet, but my initial thoughts are as follows and I don't know whether these would work from a composition point of view. You could have the African animals around a lake and as the lake goes into the distance towards the Himalayas it could morph into an icy Antartic waterscape. Sort of icebergs penguins etc. If you were trying to represent all continents you would need to add something in somewhere for the South Americas. Maybe a Mayan pyramid or Machu Picchu, not sure what else is instantly recognisable as a South American landmark, there is always the statue of Christ in Rio but then you are going into religious grounds and it may be best to remain neutral. Maybe Sol who I think is from Argentina has some ideas. Another suggestion would be to change the Empire State building for a thinner tower like the CN Tower in Canada as either the Empire State building or something like Chrysler Building may be a bit too 'blocky' and unbalance the picture on the left. Also it would mean the people with the squares on the left would probably get some landscape and some building to draw rather than all building. For the Himalayas to represent Asia Mount Everest would have to be represented properly so the shape was instantly recognisable or another idea would be to separate the Himalayas from the stuff at the foot of the mountains by adding a bit of the Great Wall of China into the picture. Anyway only random thoughts, great idea and well done for putting it forward. Cheers Mark Shanna MustonSun 4th Nov, 2007 yeah, that would be cool xD Gracie RaffertySun 4th Nov, 2007 This would be really neat; if you want, I created a grid layout... maybe plan out your sketch more or if you want I could also doodle with your sketch and see what we come up with :D Let me know! Keep it up; this idea is really cool. You must log-in to vote or post a comment |
