Hooray, Finally done with high school.... now what... Anyways, I just recently graduated, like a week ago (Suma-Cum-Laude). Now I'm trying to figure out what to do over my permanent summer. I guess I could finish writing my book, so far I've got 8 chapters, but I'm not sure what else.

So, the question is, who else graduated, or is graduating soon, and what do they intend to do over their permanent break?

I like the sound of a permanent break smiley, though I'm not sure what it is.

Congratulations on graduating Isaac.

I got out of education a while back and went straight into work, and it seems that I missed out on a lot opportunities to do the things that you can't really do when you are in the 'working-to-live' loop.

So if you have just graduated and have a free summer then treat it like a blank canvas, be creative, take the opportunity to do something that you can only do this summer, and have fun.

Pip.

Heh, well, I would be going to college in the fall but I'm about 20,000$ per year short of where I want to go.

What exactly is this voluntary oversees group you speak of? Like feeding people in third world countries for charity?

Speaking of oversees, I did at one point intend to be a foreign exchange student, but because of money issues, it didn't happen. I guess I could always trade places with someone from another country , like someone from the UK lives at my house and I live at theirs. That would be kinda cool, I've never seen anything outside of North and South America.

I'm assuming that there are cheap communtiy colleges oversee as well, and the companies that run the programs to switch people kinda charge a lot. So it would have to be someone who was willing to "trade" people, I live there and my parents cover expenses as they arise, and vice versa to whoever lives here.

Heh, theres a lot of people from the UK and other far off places here, lemme know if you're interested in temporarily adopting mesmiley

Would love to adopt you Isaacsmiley but I have 2 teenage computer obsessed (well Xbox) boys already which is why you got the backlash. I am so fed up with the amount of time they spend sat playing Halo!
Firstly let me apologise for being yet another bossy parent.
As for VSO if you are going to college you probably wouldn't have enough spare time for that but there are many worthwhile causes crying out for a helping hand. Why not check out in your local area if there is anything? They normally pay expenses etc. and it would look good on any future job application you filled in. Maybe when you have finished college you could look into VSO. Check it out on your computer

heh heh, well, if they're interested in visiting the states, and they're in high school, my father is a preacher/teacher at a particularly good private school and I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind trading me to get me out of the house, we don't have an xbox though, so he would have to live without, or bring his own....

Anyways, I went down to mexico with my father and a bunch of kids from the school a little while ago, we built houses for two very poor families down there. They were VERY happy, VERY grateful, and VERY friendly, when I came back I was VERY sunburnt. I guess it was worth it though, I had a good time, it reminds me of when I used to live in panama...(insert flashback here)

Heh, don't worry, I totally understand you being a "bossy" (responsible) parent, if my kids think they're going to play video games all day, they've got another thing coming.

I don't know about taking in both boys, but my parents might be up for handling at least one, and as for education and post high-school, I can say without exaggerating that the school has the best academic councilor in all of California, I wouldn't be surprised if she were the best in the whole western U.S. Anyways, enough rambling, I shouldn't write so late at night/early in the morning, I tend to let things flow freely from my mind through my fingers. Thanks for the advice Aunt Morsmiley

heh, my brother is the picture art guy, I like doing art, but its his obsession/hobby. Hes quite a bit better on paper than with the computer though. The computer is my forte, writing by hand is not, hence writing a book completely on the computer.smiley

smileyWell, you do know that I'm writing a book right now, yep, 8 chapters so far, most I've written in my life... I just need to get around to reading it. The people who have read it say that its good, but I wouldn't know. It sounded good in my head...

Speaking of which...
Any one want to let me stay at their house for the opening?
