I get to the /create page, and all I get are a list of hints. No place to draw, no "save" button that I keep getting warned about, nothing.
Please help me out here so I can get started?

This is probably because you don't have Flash player installed or it is disabled/blocked. You can get Flash player for your web browser at Adobe Flash website.
