Is anyone planning to go to the OMM exhibition when it happens?

No doubt we all are smiley

It would be great to meet up with fellow OMM artists at the exhibition. I am really looking forward to it happening.

I hope everyone gets the chance to see it.

Pip.

I guess I will be too low on the cash in July to afford a trip to UK smiley
But I hope the rest of us who stays home are going to see some photos of it, so take your cameras with you! smiley

Wouldn't miss it for the world! I only live 50 mins from London and there is a direct line on the rail from here to Waterloo and Paddington. Hopefully I can record a lot of the stuff there and post on here after for those who cannot make it.
I will offer this very tentatively in the hope that I don't get thousands of replys but if anyone wants to crash on my floor to save on accomodation costs they are more than welcome. If not could find out prices for cheap B&B's or local campsites. Afterall lots of people on here said they would like to travel...well here's your chance!smiley

This is the community spirit that I love about the OMM.

So, on the same note I will be making the drive from Edinburgh, and would probably have a space or two for anyone who needs a lift and doesn't mind being seen in a really unfashionable car smiley

I will be calling in favours in London and will probably be accomodating myself on a friends floor/couch so wouldn't be able to offer to put anybody up for the night.

I am really looking forward to meeting other OMM artists and think that an OMM celebration night out in London would be a fun idea.

I've been saving up money but besides a miracle I don't think I'll be able to go smiley But I'm trying! I would love to meet everyone else in person. If I go, I'd definitely go for a celebration night. WOO!

Hi Alison.
Type into your computer "How to fly for free" and check out being a courier. Traveller friends of mine have done this. It will take some homework but you have a few months to see if it is a viable proposition. Would be nice to meet you.smiley

Great idea, working as a mule, a well paid and exciting way to travel.

Only joking. I never knew that was an option, good thinking.

I asked my dad about it (he used to be a pilot) and it worried him, but you can't walk down the street without him being worried. I'm doing my homework on it and hoping my dad either says 'ok, courier away' or buys a plane before then smiley Probably won't happen, but ya never know!

I think it would be awesome if computers were set up at the exhibition so more and more people could add to it! I mean, they'd have to be printed and hung and everything, but I think a continuing work for the exhibition would be wonderful!! smiley

Wow, I really wish I could go c: That would be like the most AWESOME thing in the world ;D I would just love to meet al of you guys ;3 Ah! Why must London be so far away!! smiley

Anyways, I was thinking about it, and I think it would be cool if there was a place at the gallery where the OMM artists could make name tags for themselves, that way everyone else would know who they were smiley I know I'd want to see everyone, but aside from JOE (and others who have pictures up of them) I'd have to say I'd have touble recognizing everyone c: Oh! and if people were *really* thinking ahead they could make themselves a nametag with their OMM square on it so they'd be even more recognizable smiley Just a thought ;D

Heh, What I wouldn't give to be able to go to the event in london. Unfortunately, being as ghetto poor as I am, and living all the way over in Los Angeles, I seriously doubt the possibility.

I DO know that If I went, I would make myself a T-shirt with my OMM picture, and name underneath it, and wear that around the event. (As a hobby I make custom T-shirts) That way I would be identifiable, hmmm, maybe I should try to pay for my way there by selling personalized identifying t-shirts to people who are going to the OMM convention, heh, that would give me an excuse to play with photo software on the computer a bit. I dunno though, I don't want to end up making a business from a charity, even if I do just end up using the money to get to the event, I'd still feel guilty.smiley

Either way, PLEASE post pictures, videos, and whatnot on YouTube, I want to see what happens!smiley

Hmm... I can get on the forums now *looks around confused* that was odd...

Anyway, if I do end up and go I'll definitely do the tshirt thing. I think there would be enough time for me to get a custom print shirt. From, I dunno, CafePress or something smiley Or there is always the printable tshirt iron ons!

Yeah, the iron-on sheets are what I use (kinda pricey).
And it actually looks pretty decent with a good inkjet printer. That would be pretty awesome if everyone showed up wearing their own artwork, if its a shirt, or a nametag with the picture.... anyways, i ramble, and I really should go work on my story before I go to sleep.

Well, I'm currently living in London so I'm going to drag some of my friends down there and try and find mine, shouting "SOMETHING I DID IS IN AN EXHIBITION!"

That is such a neat idea Isaac. I may very well take you up on the offer of making it. even if you didn't get enough money to go I would rather pay you than someone else...wonder what the shipping costs are like tho.... could end up being a very expensive option!

It would be so cool if everyone who went did this!!smiley

Haw ha ha. I just had a brilliant revelation! I could calculate the price that it takes to make each shirt. Then i could take orders and sell them for 5$ more, and if I make any profit it could be donated to the OMM charities. Ha! thats awesome!smiley

Hmm lets see, I can buy the papers at 6 for $10, um thats like $1.67 each, round it up to 2$ for the sake of printer jams, and mess-ups. Um, for a complete refil of all the ink colors it costs 45$, juding at about 10 full color pages from each refil (I haven't counted how many full pages I can do, so this is an estimate) that makes it about $4.50 per page (I'm going to round that to $5 for mess-ups and jams just to be safe). Then the last real thing I would have to worry about is T-shirts, I can use the iron-ons for ANY color T-shirt, and I can get name-brand t-shirts for under 3$ for color, and under 2$ for white. I think its more for sizes over XL. Um if I can find a place to buy in bulk without S&H that would be even cheaper I imagine. On top of all that I add the 5$ towards the plane ticket.

so that means: $2 + $5 + $3 + $5= $15.00 + any S&H I'd have to deal with. I think thats a decent price, or at least I hope so. If there is a way to do it cheaper without reducing the quality, please tell me.

The plane ticket, if i were to buy it right this second, to go there on the 7th of july and come back on the 13th, would be from $1200-$1400 round trip. Not counting any hotels, car transportation, food, or anything else. So that means I would have to sell around 260 T-shirts to pay for the ticket. heh, thats quite a bit of work I'll have to do.

Oh, as of yet, this is NOT official. This is just a scheme of some possible way for me to get to the exhibition. I REALLY don't want to look like a scammer, so maybe if it was possible to go through the OMM site to make orders, so they can track how much money I get to verify that I donate the excess, I wouldn't look like a bad person. Once again this is NOT official, I am just running this by people, and if the administrators see this as unappropriate, or the like, please give me time to edit the posts before smashing me with the allmighty "ban-hammer"smiley

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Everything is a lot more expensive in Britain than in the States. I don't think you could get a decent quality for that price here. If the powers that be agree I will have one but not of this picture it would be the one I did originally. As I said in the other thread this is just for fun (well actually I said "I am 'aving a laugh"smiley which you seemed to find quite funny. I forget sometimes that I am talking to other nationalitiessmiley
