I am a 16 year old...um...person. This website is a great idea. Im not reallty apart of anything big or any kind of art organization, i just like to draw, and maybe paint. I'm not really sure, i have never really painted before, but i would like to try. I seem to be doing pretty well, but i would appreciate it if you would take a look at it and tell me what you think! Thanks! -Chris |

Well, you already know I like your picture.
I like the hair and the nice organic shape to the eyebrow. I love the eye. The eye has no shape or dimension. It's a deep black pit of nothing that the viewer falls into. I like it as a design element.
It's hard to believe you haven't really painted before. It looks like something you'd take to naturally.
I say go out, get yourself a set of windsor newton oil paints (student grade, not terribly expensive). For just beginning, you won't really need more than a few colors. You can mix all of the rest of your colors by hand. It'll look better as well. Color straight out of the tube is someone obvious. You can look at my high school paintings and see that while I did some mixing, you wondered how many tubes of thalo blue I used in the sky (or alizarin crimson). Good luck and have fun!!
