I've commented on one so far so here is my attempt!

This is Summerleaze beach at Bude, Cornwall. It is where I live and a seascape I see daily so it's a huge part of my life and the beach is always somewhere I go to chill out, walk the dog, surf, social with my friends... everything.
I have a very big problem with deciding when I feel a piece is finished and I know this isn't finished yet. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Be gentle with me!
Thanks in advance. Em x |

You're near me - I like to look at your square, and in this weather imagine myself there with a nice cool drink. Sigh . . .
The big smoke is not good in these temps and I envy those with handy sea breezes!
I would like to suggest getting a largish brush, and put it on really faint to add some lovely colour layers to your blue sea and golden sands. Seas are made up of pretty much every colour you can think of - greens, yellows and oranges reflected from the sun, shades of purples to add depth, white sparkly bits as ripples catch the light . . .
Experiment and see - you can always 'undo' bits that you don't like.
With the sand, the same with browns, oranges, yellows, whites and try using various sized brushes to add textures, again with varying strengths of brush (light/hard).
Enjoy!
I look forward to the results.
Jacqueline

Cheers for the comments Jacqueline. Yes, and nice cool beer or a G&T would be nice.
I've built up the gradients on the sand somewhat. However, they paint tool is being a little slow for me at the moment so I plan to slowly put more detail into the ocean and get more light reflecting in the water and make the waves look a little cooler. |

Hope it helps - you never know if you're talking to someone with 3 degrees in fine art or not? Doh.
Bet you're getting a little worn out with people all saying the same thing to ya - whilst I melt in town, I shall try and refrain myself. Although it obviously indicates that your square is a rather nice place to be - oops. But perhaps without the extra few hundred others who have also booked their place in your square . . .
Beer for me please.
Cheers!
J
ps. I daren't ask if you have any comments about mine, some of the shading is a bit heavy in places (tools permitting), but feel that I am pretty much there. Shame I went in first, all tools a blazing and have failed on the humourous side. Sigh.

Ooops... I let my beer outside! *runs back out to get it*
Hehe, well I've not got any degrees in anything under my belt. Not doing brilliantly in life, but best to keep smiling and hope things turn out for the best.
I don't mind people saying it; honestly it makes me appreciate where I live a lot more, I take this environment too much for granted sometimes.
Hehe, I like what you're getting at. Thanks for saying my square is nice to look at. I won't spoil it by adding the extra few hundred people to the square. It is like that here at the moment; the beaches and the sea are so busy. I've already been bruised up by a few renegade surfers while I've been out on my own board this weekend.
Your square is amazing. I honestly wouldn't know where to start when it comes to do the layering and shading you have achieved.
Are you like me and wish you could have a couple of squares where you could put a few different bits and pieces? Part of me wants to do fun, some parts serious and others just want me to scribble down undying love for someone and then scare them knowing it'll be there for all to see! |

About half a dozen squares for me too please!
That should be a good start to cover things - likewise, something serious (been there, done that, got the square). 2. Something funny; 3. something v cute; 4. something scarily eerie; 5. something really, really silly; and 6. something with my right hand (a novelty when you are left handed, I can telly you!).

Haha, sounds pretty much what I'd do. I'm left handed as well, the poor souls who were shunned to the left edge of the desk rows at school because we kept elbowing the right handed! |

Now I've fiddled with my pic a bit more since things are running a little faster. I think it's about finished now. |
