At first glance, the image seems lacking much detail, but thats probably what you intended to do. What I think could be added to improve on the square are more highlights and shadows to define the horse better. For example, a few pure white highlights on the eyes, and a little more darkening of the shadows to create more contrast.
You have got the anotomy down quite well though, and the simple background gives more focus on the horse for the eye.
Overall, I"l say its quite alright. |

well i just commented on ur piece as you know.. and i love it.. i reckon the lack of detail adds character to both ur image and hints of your own as an artist. definately a style i like. i reckon if u want to u can probably add more to the eye.. a slight more detail if u want.. just to reinforce the character of the horse and have a sort of eye contact u may say with the audience.. might be engaging. but other than that i reckon its excellent as it is |

Thank you guys for the crits! I added a little darkness and am planning to turn up my moniter brightness to go back and give it even more later. Spirit now has a very simple highlight in his eye, which will also get more detailed with I get more time. Oh, and an eyelash on the other side. lol. |

Hi Emily!!.. but, why get it better... a piece of art is the reflect of the artist... there are no parameters of better or bad or whatever... it's just what you want...
