Following the theme from the film thread, what books are people reading for the summer?
I can't wait for Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer to come out (Twilight has to be one of the best books ever), but until then I have a selection of Alexander McCall Smith, Lee Child, Jeff Abbot and Kate Mosse. It's a shame there is no Harry Potter book to look forward to anymore, but I guess Twilight has now replaced that...
Are there any book related squares? I have seen some film ones, like Gracie's amazing Pirates of the Carribean:

And some book ones:

But those are just two of the best of a lot more I am sure... |

You've just given me an awesome idea for a square... !
I've been on a heavy reading kick since March-April. I've just finished the last [well... so far] Jean Auel "Earth's Children" series book, "The Shelters of Stone", read the first three of the same series before that, am going through the HHGTTG series [currently on Life, the Universe, And Everything], and have read Watership Down and Animal Farm. All is the gooder... though Jean Auel's books aren't stellar, they still pull you in simply because they're of a different time. The explanations of certain things are either partially fabricated [need to fill in the missing pieces with something, I suppose] or overly verbose and that can be pretty annoying, but the situations the characters get into kinda pull you in. |

I love the HHGTTG series, although I think the later ones perhaps aren't quite as good as the first... Perhaps they took the silliness just a bit too far...
I haven't heard of Earth's Children, I will check it out. When summer comes I always run out of books to read, reading is basically all I do when I go away... |
