I was wondering if it would be called cheating if it were possible to move our squares to where ever we would like to.
Of course it would require an agreement between two people for a switch, but it would allow for a lot of collaboration without having people who won't collaborate sitting around your square.
And another suggestion: For the "People I've Invited" section, it would be really great if we could include offline invitations as well. This could be accomplished by requiring new members to report the member that invited them to The One Million Masterpiece.
Also, it could be done without cheating as there are not many people on here who aren't strangers to eachother.

| ooo the offline invites sounds good. i have been getting alot of people to join but alot of them usually check out the site first then registering while on the site.. usually when that happens i dont no where to find their square haha.. and i dont no if they signed on aswell. they usually have to tell me b4 i notice. |

Yes! I've gotten several people to join, but they don't show up as invited by me. 
Ok, so it's not a really terrible thing. I'm glad I got a lot of them to join! Just wish there was another way to do that.  |

If anyone thinks that moving your square could be called cheating, lets look at this site and why it is a masterpiece. It is supposed to be a collaborative effort by many artists(preferably a million) to create one piece of art.
Sure, not being able to move forces you to collaborate with those around you, but if you want to get the most collaboration and have bigger themes than just one person can express among a million, you must have the option to move around.
I know that some collaborations have already been made, but is it enough? |

| Would be nice to be able to move. I am surrounded by inactive and black squares. I have tried my best to join to what is there but when the people around you are silent its impossible. |

I like being isolated, nobody talks to me any way.

But to be a stick in the mud, i would rather stay with the neighbours i have got already, even though they keep themselves to themselves. Would be nice to see a few of them doing a bit more on thier work though, but i can hope.
I get ruffled at nosey neighbours or ones who want to drag me off on some moral crusade.
If we form groups there is a chance of bigger unions developing and half this global world of art will be them and us, black and white.
Rather than the myriad of little shining coloured gems we are all.
Nothing wrong with having friends though.

| I think it is kinda nice that you cant pick your neighbours as it makes you reach out to strangers and who knows we may see a OMM wedding or baby come out of this project!!! I realise it must be frustrating if you end up next to people that dont want to collaborate but no one can stop you from collaborating with them even if they dont get involved. You just need to adjust the edge of your square to collaborate with theres and it will blur the boundaries of the final picture. xxx |

Blurring the boundaries of your own squares by incorporating the art of your neighbors is certainly an interesting way to put an effort into the project and get recognition as collaboration, but it is not true collaboration that can make this into a real masterpiece.
Sure, taking the initiative at collaboration through adoption of the neighboring elements could be a great way to begin a beautiful relationship of the paintings, but it is probably not likely that your neighbors will reciprocate. For me, it would develop into a major disappointment if I set myself to a task where endeavour falls apart because the interests of others deviate from my own.... to contribute a wonderful piece to the one million.
At least for the moment, we are able to tell which additions are the latest to the project through the placement. I really wish I could see more collaborations, though; I feel that we need another mechanism to accomplish this here on TOMM. |
