The comment says this was done with an image-copy programme and the playback is one image but the still image is a copy of the square to its left.

I love the art but the intent of the piece is off for me. I love how this program shows the process of each picture, so, if we are discussing the approach to the piece and not the actual image, I vote the picture to be deleted. But you can take this as an approach to the same problem Michelangelo had where the critics actual believed that one of his sculptures was a mold of a real human and not done by hand (when in fact it was done by hand). Anyway that's kind of how I see this image, but it was a lot less confusing in my head. |

This is interesting.
I have PM'd Paul and Eamonn to have a look at this because it is effectively copying and pasting from another image into the OMM. This would raise issues about copying anothers work, either from within the OMM or from an external source.
As a techie I find it quite interesting, although it must be said it is somewhat short of the spirit of the project.
Maybe this should be in the Bugs and Suggestions forum, too. |

Eamonn and I have been watching this guy for a few weeks now. It certainly doesn't follow the spirit of the project, and yet it is amazingly creative that this guy has come up with a tool to do this.
So far there have been no other instances of this kind of activity - they are very easy to detect. Obviously the existence of this little program opens the possibility of photographs or other people's art being scanned into the site which would not be acceptable.
It also seems that the program is confusing our own programs a little, hence the image duplication.
So I think we need to watch this one closely and see what we can do about increasing the security of our own programs. If we detect any other uses of the software we'll have to delete the accounts. |
