About João Ferraz

My name is João, and I live in one of the largest cities of Brazil. I am a graduate EARJ, the school I studied at all of my life, and I am readying to start my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia at Okanagan. I am also interested in philosophy, and I might take that as a second degree. As an amateur philosopher, I tend to make art that reflects my personal thoughts on issues of the world. I think participating in and becoming a full member of the OMM project is a great way to do what I like and at the same time give my modest contribution to improve this world that we live in.

Occupation: College Student
Artists: I don't really admire any of the 'great' artists that everyone studies in Art History, except maybe some of the surrealists. In fact, there are very few artists that I admire all around, as opposed to simply looking up to. One of them is the photographer and poet Gilad Benari (http://gilad.deviantart.com).
Music: It's funny how my favorite genre, song, and band aren't at all compatible. Pink Floyd is the best band of all times; power metal is the best genre. The best track, though, is a light instrumental metal track by Bangladesh guitarist Igbal Asif Jewel.
Movies: "Hero" and "Clan of the Flying Daggers". Both visually beautiful movies with interesting stroylines and captivating narration.
Books and Writers: I love Rowling's Harry Potter series, but my favorite book to date has got to be China Miéville's "Perdido Street Station".
