I see you have changed your image to something you feel positive about, rather than the negativity and hate it contained previously,
It's an improvement |

"Children must be protected"? Against this image? Gotta be kidding. Only a child could draw such an image. This thing doesn't even look offensive. And those smaller kids who don't understand it - they won't understand it. This image is not pornography, it's just abstract image, a very childish one. This is not something I would protect my children from in the first place, but I am in no position of deciding for other people what's acceptable and what's not, just my opinion. |

Tricky one indeed. Yes art is a lot of the time controversial and can specifically set out to be so. Yes censorship is a shame in a supposed world of individual freedom. But yes, there are children involved in this site as well.
We as adults might or might not be offended by the loo graffiti (true graffiti can be an amazing thing of art), as it is something we probably see on a regular basis anyways. This site has high and low graffiti all over it - indeed is this site in a way not one big global wall for us all to scribble our mark on to?
On the other hand- I just wonder if it is suitable for some of the younger viewers/users of the site.
Hmmmmm.

In my unprofessionally professional opinion, I think that this site should allow people to present whatever views, or arguments they chose to, within some certain limits. For example, anything that would normally be deemed outside of the law. Such things like child-pornography for example, it being illegal regaurdless of the opinions of the poster/site. Then there are other things like "nudity/pornography" in general. Since this site is accessable to anyone, regaurdless of their age, and it being illegal to display nudity to minors without parental consent, should all nudity be censored/banned? There is the option to set as "child-safe" or not, assuming this means certain "flagged" images only appear to those registered as adults, this potentially gets rid of the problem. The next problem could be making the site "child-friendly" this would be more drastic, meaning the exclusion of things like drug paraphanelia, violent and pro-violence images, and "potty words" This is a debatable point, and immensly harder to follow through on, thus leaving the site with a virtual PG-PG13 rating. The last potential problem is expression. While there are many possitive as well as negative expressions, I think art, being a form of personal expression, should not be limited this way. This certainly means a collision of ideals and beliefs, but this just better explains the human race. Thats why, no matter how offencive, as long as they aren't illegal, I think that any material should be allowed whether its pro/anti peace, pro/anti homosexuality, pro/anti american, or pro/anti anything else. People should be allowed to tell the world what their opinions are, regaurdless how offensive, or how much it disagrees with others, as long as it isn't against a law. |
